About Us

History

The IFA & IAB Benevolent Fund (Charity registration number 234082) is an Independent Charity. We are governed by our own Constitution and although there have been some changes over the years we have been in existence since 1930. We have a history of helping people over a wide range of situations. The Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts are published on this website.

Current Trustees

David Hunt (Chairman)

Graham Abblitt

Beryl Shepherd

Trustees are elected each year and any member can stand for election after three years’ membership.

The above Trustees were elected at the 2017 AGM which was held at 1:30 on 24 July 2017 at The Wesley Hotel, Euston Street, London.
A fourth Trustee was elected, who subsequently had to resign due to pressures of work. To enable the trustees to continue their work, a replacement trustee was co-opted by the above trustees at their meeting of 2 October 2017.

How we are funded

We rely entirely on voluntary contributions. Without your help we could not continue to provide vital support to members of the accountancy profession and their dependents. We are funded by membership subscriptions, donations and legacies.

Membership of the Benevolent Fund

Any member of the IFA or IAB, including students, who subscribes £5 or more in one year will become a member of the Benevolent Fund. Members are entitled to attend and vote at all General Meetings of the Fund. We will send notification of meetings to all current members who provide a UK address.

We do not share our data with any other body.

How you can to help support us
Subscriptions and/or donations can be made though this website’s donation form.

This can also be done by standing order or by bank transfer using sort code 10-04-27 and account no. 31108646.

If you prefer, donations or subscriptions can be made by cheque and sent to The Secretary, IFA & IAB Benevolent Fund, 23 Nutbourne Road, Farlington, Portsmouth PO6 1NP. Cheques should be made payable to “The IFA & IAB Benevolent Fund”.

Gift Aid can also be an important addition to our income. Subscriptions and donations collected from UK taxpayers who sign the declaration will allow us to claim Gift Aid on their contributions. You can do this when donating on our website. Remembering the Fund in your will would also be most welcome.
